Skärholmen Statoil Gut
Richtung:   Södertelje, Helsingborg, Gothemburg (Süden, Westen) E4, E20
Take a subway to Skärholmen, walk to Statoil-station. A good, busy enter ramp, some trucks having a break.

If U r coming by boat from Finland, try right away to cars leaving the boat w sign where U r going to. I got to southern France (when was young :).

If you´re coming on the boat from Finland, your best bet is to find the truckers´ cabinet on the ship. There can be an international bunch of drivers, try talking to them. This is what you should do on any ship transporting trucks, wherever you are.

Jakobsberg Gut
Richtung:   Karlstad, Västerås, Örebro (Westen) E 18
Might be other places before too. But as I drove by, I noticed that as the highway passes the suburbs, the junctions don´t have good hitching spots. First reasonable one seemed to be the ramp at Jakobsberg shopping center.

Found a better place! Try to get buses 157 or 591 to Råstahem. Place worth three thumbs! But don´t accept rides shorter than to Jakobsberg. Places between are impossible.

Stockholm Sweden
(deutsch geschrieben) Gut
Richtung:   Autobahn

Translation of the above in English: I was in Stockholm and was desperate to get to the highway. Somebody gave me this good tip: I don't remember the street name, but as far as I know there's only one (!) IKEA! And every half hour a free shuttle bus goes there from the city centre. It even says so in the yellow pages. The street/the IKEA is directly next to a highway with a petrol station. That's one way of getting out of this confusing city!

Stockholm Sweden
E20 meets E4 Gut
Richtung:   Süden E4
Take the commuter train to "Södertälje Hamn". After coming out of the station house, turn to the right and walk South along the E4/E22 until you come to a tunnel that goes under the highway. Walk through this tunnel and then take to the right; walk North along the highways until you come to the place where E20 from the west merges into E4 South. On this stretch of road you have perhaps the best chance of getting South from Stockholm. You are technically not allowed to stand there so the police might ask you to leave, but it is a safe place, so don't feel bad about it. You should wait for a car that goes at least all the way to Norrköping, but if you are very impatient, Nyköping might also do.

Viking Line Terminal Gut
Richtung:   every direction (Norden, Süden, Westen, Osten)
If you know the time of the ferry arrival, or arrive with the ferry, this is worth a try.

Paint a sign, where/which direction you want to go and place yourself at the exit of the terminal. My place was after the zebra crossing next to the terminal building.
Took me about 10 mins to get a lift.

Märsta, Arlanda roundabout Super gut
Richtung:   Uppsala (Norden) E4
Take the commuter train (Pendeltåg) to Märsta.

Get out of the station through the little swing door that you see on your left side when walking towards the station house.

Turn left and walk South along the railroad until there is a bridge crossing the rails on your left side.

On the other side of the bridge, you can start hitchhike. The people picking you up will most likely go to Arlanda airport.

Get out of their car in the roundabout by the E4. (You can also walk this roundabout while hitching, it's 1-2 km.) Walk up to the Uppsala entrance and stand right behind the pedestrian crossing.

This is a truly magical spot - I have stood here 30 times and never waited more than 10 minutes. Do not accept a ride shorter than to Uppsala.
